Balance between usability and design in websites. Design of a complete prototype for a user-centered interface: the Muse case.
Usability and aesthetics are often considered concepts belonging to two different fields within the design of interfaces. Some researches, such as those in the field of HCI, have often neglected the part related to creativity and the pleasantness of use of an interface to leave space for engineering and functionality studies.
Today, however, with the emergence of new technologies it is becoming increasingly important to consider both approaches for the creation of a complete, consistent and user-centered websites.
The main objective of this thesis is to overcome the prejudice on aesthetics considered as an element of disturbance and encumbrance within a website and to propose a global approach that considers both guidelines for the design of interfaces, giving direct application in the realization of a website for the band “Muse”.”
